GDW Werkzeugmaschinen Herzogenaurach GmbH was founded in 1994 by Hermann Weiler, the former co-owner of Weiler Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH. In 2014, his long-time employee Hans Ort took over all company shares and has been managing GDW Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH as managing partner ever since. The takeover also marked the move to the new company building in Höchstadt a. d. Aisch. Hans Ort is supported by his wife Andrea Ort, who is responsible for the commercial area as authorized signatory and managing director. GDW Werkzeugmaschinen thus remains a family-run traditional company with a secure succession.
The product range includes high-tech machines for complex tasks as well as manual lever and precision lead and feed spindle lathes. GDW precision lathes set standards in terms of innovation, quality, user-friendliness and safety.
From the very beginning, the focus has been on:

GDW lathes solve a wide variety of tasks around the world every day. Whether tool or mold making, automotive or mechanical engineering, medical technology, workshops for the disabled or educational institutions, they all rely on GDW machines. The machines are CE-compliant, TÜV and GS-certified and approved according to DIN 8605 toolmaking accuracy. To this day, the Comfortline with the GDW position display is the benchmark for intuitive user interfaces - combining the conventional lathe philosophy with CNC attributes.
